I've been pretty quiet the past year. The main reason for this is that I got a job as an audio development tester at Ubisoft. I've had the opportunity there to work with sound in a way that I've never had before.
When I think about it, my passion for sound work has always been rooted in the technical aspect of it. I love making music, but even more than that, I love figuring out how to make music. Although my primary function at my workplace is to test games, it involves a hefty amount of debugging; essentially, piecing together why something is not sounding right.
It's provided me with a new outlet for my 'sonic' energy that would otherwise be directed towards making music.
This doesn't mean I'm done making music though. That drive is still there, it's just being temporarily satiated by my learning process for game sound - the goal being to land a job as an audio designer.
I still get that antsy feeling when I haven't worked on a song for a while, and then I'll sit down and play with some ideas. I have a lot of personal projects that I've started over the past while; there are some good ideas amongst the throwaways that I'd like to finish this summer.
I'm also still working on TIE - although the focus there has shifted from sound work to writing work. That project is finally coming together in a way that I've never seen before, and I'm confident we'll be able to release it once-and-for-all this summer.
Anyways, I think I've said enough for now. I'll try and make the next update sooner rather than later :)
Thanks for listening.
