Who`s Listening?

Posted by VegetarianMeat - August 18th, 2013

I`ve noticed for the past while that I haven`t been getting much feedback on the tracks that I`m submitting. It`s pretty difficult to build steam when a zero vote that hits your song after you put it up for an hour stops most people from checking it out. I`m starting to think more and more about what I really want to do with my life once I`ve finished my degree (in a year), and working as a producer is something that I`m extremely passionate about and would love to do. But I need to find a place where I can start to grow, and my place in the community of NG has been stagnant for a long time.

I'm deciding to stop releasing singles and devote some time and energy to a full-on album on bandcamp.

I'll post here when it's completed (probably a while).

I feel for you bro. The Newgrounds audio portal has been in decline.
There's plenty of people who submit stuff but almost no one responds to it. I think people just aren't motivated to review or even vote these days.

Good luck on your career and album! Keep us updated.

Sometimes, I wonder if anyone reads my comments.

Heh, touche bud.

In all honesty, I sincerely meant to respond to your comment when I read it, but it's one of those things where you put it to the side for a second cause you want to think of the right thing to say first and then you get side-tracked and it slips your mind.

I really do appreciate the comment though. It helps to know that there's someone on the other side somewhere, listening. It's funny how I kind of just found myself on the other end of the table, and seriously, thanks for calling me out on it :)

Yeah it seems like these days there isn't much you can say when you're submitting to the audio portal to get some kind of response to your work. I wish there was a way I could know what kind of material tends to get a response on this site, cause I feel like just having a conversation flowing about your work amongst people listening to it is the best way to keep yourself motivated in the sense that you know there's an interest in it.

I will definitely keep my NG page updated with news concerning the album. Actually, right now I have the first intro track pretty much done, and I'm working on the second one at the moment. I'm really happy with the way it's sounding so far. It's kind of signalling back to some of my earlier ambient stuff that I used to do.

I'll comment since I like your work and I want to see what else you release in the future. I have like 9 of your songs on my phone.

I agree with CzeryWassierSwizier about people not motivated to review or vote anymore. I mean this is how I see NG: Back in middle school and high school I used to be on this site all the time checking out funny stuff or playing games. Then there were years I forgot this site existed, coming back it is still kind of the same. Instead now I just browse through once in a blue moon looking for something interesting. I barely check the site anymore, to be honest if you reply it will probably take weeks before I see it.

Humor is everywhere on the web now. Tumbler, failblog, facebook, etc. Memes and gifs make sites like this forgettable. If you want to spread your music, use something like google+ or twitter. I'm not saying change and leave all this behind, it's just easier to connect with the fans. Especially on google+, if a celeb or something shares your music then a lot of people are introduced and the word keeps spreading.

Same. I love NG, but there have been many times where it just disappeared from my mind for a while.

I think it's a great idea to start a twitter and/or google + account. I've recently been working on a new game soundtrack with an indie developer that I met, and things are looking good in terms of where the project is heading. I could use those platforms as an outlet to track my progress or something.

Thanks for the comment. I'll be sure to update my NG page whenever I have any relevant news in regards to new things that I'm working on.
